I’m a natural born caregiver at heart. Always grew up helping older people. It was just in my nature. I grew up to become a Home Health Aide (HHA), and then spent 4 years at “Mount Sinai Hospital” in Harlem for 4 years. I was known as the MVP on my floor, and the nurses FAVORITE PCA- Which is an accomplishment the way they Beef lol. I naturally had a knack for rubbing feet thanks to my mom. I used to Hate when she’d ask me to lotion her feet and rub them. But thanks to my ADHD & High percentile IQ, I learned how to put her to sleep by doing it a certain way. I got really good because I would hate when I’d “think” she sleep hard enough then I’d slide off and she’d wake up like “HEY FINISH THE ITHER ONE.. You not done!”… So my smart behind got the hang of it. That combined with my caring for older people, I began rubbing them down when they needed to be motioned and was in pain. Several of them began asking if I can visit them when they got out and they’d pay me to rub em down the same way cause they NEEDED it. So once I began that it became a Very Common thing for not only my clients but also hospital patients “all” telling me to go back to school and stop wasting my talent and take it serious. Fast forward thanks to their MUCH NEED wisdom and guidance, I did just that. My appreciation, respect, admiration and enjoyment of the elderly community will ALWAYS play a Big role in my life.
